Bio:

Jesse Williams retired as a Captain from the New Mexico State Police in December 2024 after completing twenty-one years of service.

During his career, he spent nearly fifteen years in the Investigations Bureau, handling and supervising complex felony-level cases ranging from homicides to white collar crimes investigations. In his supervisory roles in the Investigations Bureau, he oversaw both proactive (narcotics and street crimes) and reactive units as well as the NMSP Crime Scene Team. He spent three years as the commander of the NMSP Training & Recruiting Bureau. This included oversight of the NMSP Recruit School as well as the in-service and advanced training programs for incumbent officers. During his time in training, he spearheaded the launch of the NMSP Youth Academy, which invites high-school-aged students from across the state to spend a week at the NMSP Academy in Santa Fe to get a taste of what training to become a police officer is like.

Jesse received his undergraduate degrees (Biology and Spanish) from New Mexico State University in 2003. He returned to NMSU nearly ten years later to pursue graduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Public Administration, graduating in 2015.

As part of a very satisfying career in policing, Jesse developed and instructed numerous advanced training programs designed to improve professional competence and personal character. He is recognized as a Master Instructor by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy and has provided extensive training to law enforcement officers across the state of New Mexico for nearly twenty years. He has developed LEA-accredited training programs for a range of topics, including constitutional policing, leadership and management, police ethics, report writing, and others.

His wife and best friend, Anika, have been married since 2003 and are the happy parents of five children.
